To My Fellow Readers

This has been an oddly silent year for my keyboard and pen. Although, my mind has been loud and noisy, to say the least. I first grabbed a camera in 2009, and started writing about photography in 2015; eventually, the pastime took over my whole life. In 2018, I had the opportunity to seriously guide photography students into finding their visual voice; I became a university professor and embraced academia for good.

Now, I’m a PhD candidate working on my dissertation; and as you might have guessed already, it has to do with photography. I wouldn’t dare give you a lecture on social psychology without your consent, but I want to share this with you. Science has become my safe place to be, and its method has allowed me to aim my previous academic experiences towards photography.

In a nutshell, I’m interested in studying the social nuances behind the cultural practice of taking photographs. In parallel, I’ve been working with some other amazing fellow researchers on a project which has allowed me to explore how people presented themselves to their close ones while being hospitalised due to COVID-19.

Back to photography writing, since 2015 I’ve crafted more than 1000 pieces, but here I’ve just shared those commissions which are coherent with my photographic practice. Nowadays, I consider myself a documentary photographer, but that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy…
