How to Find a Photography Niche
There is a strong (and I even dare to say codependent) relationship between “the inner voice” or “style” and a specific photography niche or genre. And it really makes sense if you think about it. What could be the use of having a style if there’s no niche to fit it into, right? The first time that I saw this wiki they listed 82 photography genres, and now they list 90. And trust me, my first time watching these reference tables wasn’t long ago, in fact it was just 8~7 months ago.
This sort of existential stuff has a huge impact in a photographer’s life, and none of you will doubt that we do take all the “style-related” stuff pretty seriously. I want to share some valuable stuff that I have learned over the years about finding a new genre in which we can actually feel comfortable being. And I really wish I could have known this stuff earlier in my career.
The Kit-Lens Way
This one will surprise you, and perhaps is something you won’t hear from camera manufacturers, everyone should start with the Kit Lens and shouldn’t be allowed to change it in like a year or so.
