2023 Recap, Semester 01

Amidst last year’s closure, I announced something about my upcoming content here at Medium. For some noble reasons, things didn’t go as planned. Since 2018 I’ve been diving more into academia and this past semester was an absolute blast:

  • I did all the fieldwork for my PhD dissertation, which required me to design (a) a flexible instrument for comprehensively reading visual data, and (b) an interview script for completing the story behind the photographs that I selected for my study. It could be nice to share a brief document at the end of this long writing process.
  • In parallel, I guided three research projects in the field of product design. One of them aimed to design a public policy on artisan craft, another on building a prototype for enhancing loom productivity and a field experiment for saving some ladybugs and wasps from an all-purpose insecticide.
  • Also, I also supervised a master’s degree thesis about gynaecological beliefs influencing health-related decisions among women in a particular rural zone in my country.
  • Oh, and the research I worked on from 2021 to 2022 got published earlier this year, so if you are interested in getting to know more about how photography can be used for coping with loneliness under hospitalisation, you can read it here.
  • Last but not least, I just got called to participate in anthropological research focused on cultural heritage and social capital. This particular project is allowing me -not only to deal with primary source data- but…
